When you think of autumnal foliage, you think of New England. But many this year have noticed that fall colors are yet to make an appearance.
And they’re not wrong; according to meteorologists, this year’s warm, wet weather means fall foliage peak colors will come later than usual. While October is typically the best month for it, many are saying fall colors are yet to appear in most of southern and central New England.
If you want to already catch some orange and yellow leaves, heading up to the Canadian border is your best bet. Think northern states like Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire — Massachusetts will come in a few weeks time.
For the towns with the best foliage, Bethlehem, Franconia and North Conway in New Hampshire are all safe bets for scenic views, as are Woodstock and Stowe in Vermont and Bar Harbor and Bethel, Maine.
