New Years is less than a week away, and while spending the night out on the town usually requires planning far in advance, there are still plenty of things you can do to ring in the end of the last decade and the start of the next one. Lucky for you, Boston is famous for its free and fun New Years celebration that takes over the entire city. From First Night to parties and galas galore, check out our short guide to the best of what the city has to offer.
If you haven’t yet heard of First Night, you’ve been missing out. This annual celebration starting on New Year’s Eve takes over the whole city for two days, and includes outdoor music performances, art installations, fireworks, puppet shows, and wintery activities like ice sculpture displays and contests and outdoor ice skating. The celebration is for all ages, so children are welcome. Check out the First Night website for more information.
There are a number of big parties and galas around Boston that still have tickets available. Harpoon Brewery, for example, is throwing a big roaring ‘20s celebration in its massive Seaport beer hall. It’s 21+, and the cover is expensive at $100, but every ticket gets you admission, two beer tokens, a pretzel token, a champagne flute, a light buffet, and a gift. Everett’s Night Shift Brewing is also throwing a ‘20s-themed party, at a more affordable $55 ticket. The party will have big band Swingin’ Bridges perform the evening’s soundtrack, and charcuterie plates, homemade beer Twix, and a glass of rosé seltzer are included with the cost of admission. For an even more affordable ticket at $35, check out Bully Boy Distillers Prohibition-themed party for specialty cocktails, small bites, and a free shot of Amaro from an ice luge.
Wherever you plan to ring in the New Year, don’t leave it any longer — we suggest making your plans as soon as possible. Reach out soon so our customer service representatives can help you plan your night out on the town so you can focus on celebrating the new year. Happy New Years from GO Boston!
