While Covid-19 cases are far lower than they were a year ago, the pandemic isn’t over yet.

On Thursday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health confirmed 1,586 new Covid-19 cases. This brings the total number of cases in the state to 801,567.

The state’s Department of Public Health also confirmed 23 additional deaths related to Covid-19, bringing the total to 18,671, and 509 current hospitalizations, with 147 in intensive care. The seven-day weighted average of positive tests in the state is 1.84%.

Massachusetts is also currently 69% fully vaccinated, and 80% partially vaccinated.

Last week, the state started receiving doses of pediatric Covid-19 vaccines, and Governor Charlie Baker says he doesn’t “anticipate any supply issues”, so parents can already begin making appointments for kids age 5 to 11 to become eligible.
