You’ve been seeing the plastic pumpkins, ghosts, and witch costumes since the end of the summer, but the big day has finally almost arrived! Halloween is on October 31st, which means you have just a couple weeks to plan your big day out. Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends, or solo, we’ve made a mini guide to doing Halloween right in Boston.
If you’re traveling with family, there are plenty of events around the city for kids of all ages. First up, trick-or-treating. We’d recommend the Back Bay or cozy Beacon Hill to bring your kids trick-or-treating, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes to take on the hills! Wherever you go, also be sure to bundle up — Boston in the fall is notoriously chilly.
Another fun option is heading to Salem. Located a short shuttle ride out of Boston, Salem is famous for its history of witch trials. The town has embraced its spooky past ever since, and while you’ll find Halloween-esque events all year round, the month of October is especially ghoulish. Check the town’s website for their “Haunted Happenings” and other events leading up to, and including, Halloween night!
Young kids will enjoy the ZooHowl at Franklin Park Zoo, an event where kids can trick-or-treat amongst zoo animals, play games, do arts and crafts, and win prizes in costume contests. For older kids and teens, FrightFest at Six Flags New England has themed rides, haunted houses, trick-or-treating, and more nighttime spooky fun!
