Boston is known for many things — it’s home to some of the country’s best universities, restaurants, local music, museums, and more. But it’s especially known for being a beautiful city, with a cozy European charm. Boston gets even more magical around the holiday season, so if you’re in the area this month, there are a few things you shouldn’t miss.
First, Boston Common and Faneuil Hall are magically lit up and a must-visit, as is the Downtown Crossing area, where elegant shop windows, restaurants, and hotel lobbies are decorated with sparkling Christmas trees. Looking for a holiday night on the town? We’ve also pulled together a few of the best upcoming events, so make your arrangements soon!
There are a number of classic shows you should not miss. The Boston Ballet’s rendition of The Nutcracker at Citizens Bank Opera House is probably the most well-known, and makes for a fabulous night on the town. We’d recommend reserving an elegant restaurant for dinner before the show, and a stylish ride, such as a town car or limousine.
If you’re looking for a more family-friendly option, The Boch Center’s Shubert Theatre is putting on multiple daytime and nighttime performances of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, a fun and charming musical about the world’s most famous reindeer. If attending with a group, we recommend reserving an SUV or minibus, to make sure your party gets there safely and together.
If you’re looking for a good time, and neither of the above suits your tastes, why not try Dolly Parton’s Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol? This fun and riotous show is being held at the Citi Emerson Colonial Theatre, and we’d definitely recommend turning this into a night of dinner, show, and dancing!
